6 of Norfolk’s Best Coastal Walks

The EDP Norfolk Magazine has done a great article this month on the 6 best coastal walks with cafes.  All 6 look wonderful and can easily be done while staying with us.  The closest one is just a few miles down the coast at Happisburgh, the details are below, it would be a lovely way to spend an Autumn afternoon, I haven’t tried Burgers at the Beach yet but Smallsticks café is lovely

Starting point: Beach Road, Happisburgh, NR12 0PRcoastal walk 3

The route: Walk from the village down Beach Road, turn right on to the Norfolk Coast Path. From there it is simple; follow the path for about one mile to Cart Gap beach. When you have enjoyed a walk along the sand or dipped your toes in for a paddle, simply follow the path back.

The length: Approximately three miles

The café: When you return, refuel with a burger from the new beach café everyone is talking about. Burgers At The Beach is at the end of beach road, close to the sea. It is run by husband and wife team, Andrew and Jojo Smith. Their food is as local as possible. They serve three types of burgers – a crab burger, caught at the end of the road by a Happisburgh fisherman; the vegan and gluten-free lentil and walnut burger, and finally a locally sourced steakburger. They all serve locally-made cakes. Although it has no indoor seats, don’t let the weather put you off.

When you reach Cart Gap, the wonderful Smallsticks café is perfectly positioned on farmland just a short stroll from the beach. Everything is freshly made and as local as possible – including crabs and lobsters straight from the boat at Cart Gap and eggs and potatoes from their farm
