BLUEBELL WALKS AT BLICKLING HALL

Blickling Hall, Blickling, Aylsham, NR11 6NF

Start off by parking at the main Blickling Hall, as the house is just stunning. Here you can buy tickets for the house and gardens. You can walk to the Bluebell Wood from here, but it is a long walk across the other side of the park and estate. We would suggest once you have seen the main house get back in your car and drive to the Woodgate NT Car Park (pay and display, free to members).

Turn right out of the main car park and continue for approx. 2 miles until you see a turning S.P. Ittringham and the Walpole Arms pub. You are now going around the back of the estate. Continue on this lane for approximately 1 mile until you see the Walpole Arms on your right-hand side. Turn right past the pub down a narrow lane. You will come to a junction after approx. ½ mile; turn left S.P. Moorgate and Ingworth. Drive a short way down this lane, and you will come to Woodgate car park.

Once in the car park, go through the gate on the left-hand side and follow the sandy track around the woods; you will see the bluebells almost immediately. The walk will take you round in a large loop past the bluebells to the Mausoleum, a large pyramid in an opening in the woods. Once you get to the Mausoleum about 500 meters past it on the right, there is a grassy track back into the woods, which takes you back through another part of the bluebell wood.

It took mum and me about 45 minutes, and we absolutely loved it.

The Buckinghamshire Arms is a great place for lunch on the way back!
