Sea Palling Beach Wheelchairs
Accessible Beach Wheelchairs at Sea Palling Blue Flag Beach
We are delighted that two beach wheelchairs are now available at Sea Palling Blue Flag Beach, just a short distance from us here at Dairy Barns.
We welcome many guests with limited mobility who may otherwise find it difficult to access the beach, so we are particularly pleased to be able to share this wonderful local service. There are two beach wheelchairs available: an adult model and a smaller version suitable for children.
The wheelchairs are provided free of charge and can be booked online in advance or requested on the day, subject to availability.
Booking and collection
Bookings are available daily from 10am to 8pm, with collection from Sandy Hills Snack Bar.
Once you have made a booking, please go to the front counter at Sandy Hills Snack Bar. A member of staff will meet you and show you to the private area where the wheelchair is stored, allowing you to transfer into the chair comfortably and discreetly.
If you have not booked in advance, you are also welcome to simply call in at Sandy Hills from 10am and ask whether a wheelchair is available. Some paperwork will need to be completed on the day.

Adult XL Beach Wheelchair
The adult XL Beach Wheelchair is an Extreme Motus X3 all-terrain chair, designed to make travelling across a variety of surfaces much easier. Its long wheelbase and low-pressure WheelEEZ balloon wheels are designed to travel over sand, grass, rocks, mud and snow.
The chair features independent disc brakes and rear-axle balance to provide greater control when turning and descending slopes — particularly useful when navigating the ramp down to Sea Palling's beautiful Blue Flag beach. A bucket seat, seat belt and adjustable handlebar provide additional comfort and support.
Please note: There is no hoist available, so users must be able to transfer themselves into the wheelchair. A reasonably strong helper will also be needed to assist with pushing the chair up the ramp.
Once you are down on the sand, however, the beautiful Sea Palling beach is waiting to be enjoyed!
A wonderful local initiative
The beach wheelchair project has been made possible through local and national funding. 80% of the project was funded through the Farming in Protected Landscapes programme, with the remaining 20% provided by Sea Palling and Waxham Parish Council.
